Farmer - Spine of the Nation

From the rich to the poor, the great to the small, all who need to eat has a relation with agriculture. But we don’t even think about the farmer, assuming he has no relation to us. We think that we and the farmers are the same as we work for money. But think about it, if we don't get money we can move to another job. But if a farmer did the same, what would happen to us? We can go and ask for more salary, but the farmer, even if he doesn't get a good yield, he’ll put his hopes up and start again. In every seed he sows he hopes for better life and success. We cannot even be compared to such farmers.

Farming isn't as easy as changing attire and getting into the fields. It's a beautiful relationship between man and earth. It's a science which can’t be understood by scientists. Only farmers can understand it. Yet when that same farmer commits suicide, we don’t even care. Their death has become a casual news in the newspapers now, but we still don’t stop to think. We don't even understand the loss which comes to us when a farmer dies.

While the consumers are increasing, the cultivators are decreasing. The price of the land is growing while the value of farmers is coming down. If we keep constructing buildings while the price of land is growing, what will we eat and live? Now no farmer wants to make his son a farmer. Already our generation doesn't know what agriculture is, if this continues the only place the children of the future will see agriculture is in history books.

Farmers don't need our sympathy. They need our respect, and we owe them that respect!
